Below is a list of all the jam and chutney flavours I've got in stock. If you'd like to buy some, just let me know.
Standard jars are £1.50 and anything larger or smaller is priced appropriately. Fifty pence from each jar sold goes to cover costs and everything else is given to charity.
Money raised through the sale of jams and chutneys is shared between a small group of charities.
So far this year we've raised:
Generally, the money is divided evenly between the North West Air Ambulance and Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association.
Exceptions to this include sales of Lemon Curd, where the money goes to the British Heart Foundation (in memory of Seaweed Neal), and money raised during November 2010 which was given to the Movember Foundation.
The following flavours will be available as soon as I've got (a) enough jars, (b) all the ingredients and (c) enough time:
I like making jam. I also like making chutney. The trouble is you can't always make small quantities of it, especially when you've got lots of fruit or vegetables to use up.
I've tried giving it away to people and that worked for a while, but there's only so much jam or chutney a person can eat in a given period. When you offer people stuff for free, they feel like they should accept even if they don't want it - not to do so could make them sound both crazy and rude.
So I stopped pestering people but the jam kept piling up.
Finally I decided that the only way to get rid of it was to sell it for charity. That way, people can choose to buy some if they want to and they'll feel good because they're giving to a good cause.
It won't raise a lot but every little helps.
